FUN CLUB HUB YOUTH PROVISION: TUESDAY’S AT TAMWORTH (CHECK SOCIALS FOR JANUARY 2024 START DATE)
10th January 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Think back to when you were a teenager; how did you spend your days and weekends? If like me, you were of the era of the Youth Club, then you will know how important it is to have an affordable and safe space to explore who you are and build healthy relationships.
When the government-funded local youth club provision shut down, qualified Youth Workers Kerry and Liz knew that the need to keep it going! Even in the digital world we live in now, young people need a physical place to connect and uncover their potential, exploring all the issues and challenges that life creates. The Youth Club Services of today are not just about “keeping kids off the streets”.
Award Winning Fun Club Hub CIO offer a whole suite of informal education: from health, LGBTQ+, careers, relationships to community engagement, volunteering and more. The young people of Lichfield, and it’s surrounding areas, lead what they want each club to do; the aim is to empower them all to do what they enjoy! Partnerships are important to the club; they have recently taken the structure into local Secondary Schools, use donated surplus food from Greggs and Tesco, and work with local police, counsellors and other organisations to respond to what their community wants and needs. Community is at the heart of what they do; they support all of those in their Fun Hub Club family, many members move through the ranks to become Leaders.
Since joining Nurture, they have been able to expand their offering, by using space as well as widening the activities their members take part in. Like many community organisations, there are always open to support; from people of all ages and genders volunteering their time, skills and experience to funding which keeps the clubs affordable and well supplied. Don’t forget, the youth of today are the business owners, teachers, parents and leaders of tomorrow. Let’s play our part in helping them create a world that matters!
