Founder Charlotte has three children under six, so finding a destination that entertains all children and is pushchair friendly can be tricky! The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford offers a free undercover space set within three hangers that features interactive exhibition areas and virtual simulations (admission cost for simulators). Entry is free and open’s daily from 10.00am.
During the summer months the three hangers that house the impressive aeroplanes keep visitors cool and sheltered from the heat, whilst in the winter it keeps you sheltered from the elements – it can be cold so wrap up! We visited last May when we had just welcomed our newest arrival, it was perfect as there was baby changing facilities located around the exhibition centre and the entire space is flat and pushchair friendly. When we visited we took our own picnic and sat inside the main entrance, there is also space outside with plenty of picnic benches.
The best and newest addition to RAF Cosford is the impressive aerospace inspired play-area; which is only a stones throw away from the Airfield Kitchen which serves food and extra strong coffee! Physical Training Instructors at RAF Cosford were said to have inspired the playground experience, and it shows with plenty of fun and interactive features. The life size aeroplane takes centre stage within the play area, perfect for imaginative play. Entry to the playground is part of general admission to the Cosford site, which is open every day of the week, including Bank Holiday weekends. You can pre-book your timed entry via the website. Admission is free.
