The Transition Network is a movement of communities around the UK coming together to signpost and demonstrate sustainable practices locally, strengthening our community and making it more resilient for times ahead. Having set up as an active group in Lichfield in 2017, we are now working with Nurture - sustainability, nature and environment are key elements running through projects that Nurture does already. By working together, Transition and Nurture can promote the ethos to a wider community.
Transition Lichfield has influenced local councils’ policies relating to climate change and NetZero and on nature recovery, establishing ‘wilding’ areas around Lichfield and helping shape policy on the use of green spaces. See the Nurture Map for locations of our wilding spaces! And if you would like to get involved and give up a few hours of your time each month to help with the maintenance of the spaces then please email us. It really isn't onerous and you can learn a lot from just looking at what is thriving there.
A comprehensive list of helpful ‘eco’ related resources has been developed for the community to access who might be seeking advice on a particular topic or follow an interest in an environmental issue. These can be found on the 'Resources' page.
We hold events such as film nights and discussions which will be advertised on the Events and promote sustainable activities with stands at festivals and other community events.
